The Almeida exists to launch the next generation of British artists onto the world stage. We make brave new work that asks big questions: of plays, of theatre and of the world around us. We bring together the most exciting artists to take risks; to provoke, inspire and surprise our audiences; to interrogate the present, dig up the past and imagine the future. Whether new work or reinvigorated classic, whether in our theatre, on the road or online, we make live art to excite, enliven and entertain.
The Almeida offers a number of opportunities for young people and emerging artists, whether you’re an actor, director, designer or any other industry creative. Our Young Artist programme offers year-long training for actors, producers and theatre critics aged between 14 and 25. We also have a resident director and designer scheme, which support artists in the early stages of their career. The Almeida offers a number of placement opportunities within our technical, stage management and costume departments throughout the year, which work alongside our mainstage shows. As well as these exciting long-term opportunities, the Almeida has a multitude of workshops, events and festivals throughout the year to get involved with.
