Decoding the Role of the “Assistant Director”

6th November @ 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm
Actors rehearse on a black-box theatre stage while seated performers watch.

Workshop Information:

Ever wondered why an Assistant Director has to attend every rehearsal, watch the show multiple times a week, and might have a contract longer than the Director’s? Join Tiffany Wong for an honest look inside the role of the Assistant Director – what our day actually looks like, how we land these jobs, and anything else you might want to know. Drawing on her own experiences in the UK and Australia, Tiffany opens up the mysterious world of the “Assistant Director”.

This session will be hosted by Tiffany Wong, Freelance Director. These are Tiffany’s credits for the past year:

  • Director: Clary (EdFringe)
  • Assistant Director – The Spy Who Came In From The Cold UK Tour
  • Acid’s Reign (EdFringe & Pleasance & Relish Theatre)
  • Cover Rehearsal Assistant Director – Death Note: The Musical
  • Directing Intern – Paddington The Musical & Harry Potter and The Cursed Child
  • Royal Court Theatre 2026 Assistant Director Pool
