In addition to our annual off-stage careers event, this year TheatreCraft is running a monthly series of free interactive workshops. Stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter and sign up to our newsletter for further details. Full programme details of our Friday 3rd November event will be announced in the Autumn.
Our monthly workshops are FREE and a great way for 16-25 year olds to gain insight into non-performance based careers in theatre.
Our first workshop on 23 January took place at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, led by Master Carpenter Tom Nolan. This hour long backstage workshop gave participants insight into the many roles involved backstage in order to make a West End show possible. Participants were taken around the backstage areas and learned how the set works, which was particularly interesting as the Theatre Royal Haymarket currently has two shows playing: both Love’s Labour’s Lost and Much Ado About Nothing. This provided some unique insight as to how these two productions successfully run alongside one another, and how two sets are stored and used. The participants gained contacts for potential future work experience, and even gained hands on experience using the fly system.
