At the University of South Wales, our unique Lighting Design and Live Event Technology degrees allow students to mix an interest in art with technology. As well as being taught by industry experts in state-of-the-art facilities, students will gain hands-on experience by creating stimulating lighting performances and live events that are developed from their own designs.
Our Pontypridd Campus hosts cutting-edge facilities dedicated to lighting and live events, and has a wide range of industry-standard equipment. Students will work in our sound and television studios, optics lab and specialist lighting rooms, as well as in The Cube – our dedicated space to put students’ skills into practice, bringing events and performances to life. Our staff are also Authorised WYSIWYG (lighting and venue pre-visualisation software) Trainers.
Our lecturers are actively involved in the lighting and live event industry, and the degrees are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and meet the educational requirements to enable students to become an Incorporated Engineer (IEng). The University of South Wales is one of the UK’s largest universities, offering students excellent opportunities and prospects for the future. We offer a range of qualifications, from foundation degrees to Masters level, designed to maximise students’ employability and graduate prospects. We offer a wide-range of courses, from Forensic Science to Nursing, from Journalism to Law, and from Engineering to Teaching.
