The Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond, South West London, aims to delight, challenge, move and amaze with a bold and continually evolving mix of new and rediscovered plays in our unique in-the-round space. We want to change lives by telling remarkable stories from a wide variety of times and places, filtered through the singular imagination of our writers and the remarkable close-up presence of our actors.
Working with up to 20,000 people a year through our Community and Education programme, the theatre continues to outreach into the local community and beyond aiming to bring theatre to people who might not otherwise engage with it. The Orange Tree offers touring productions into schools, bespoke workshops and performances at the theatre as well as a youth theatre for 7-19 year olds and cheap tickets for Under 30s. The Orange Tree is now approaching its 45nd year of theatre making, and over 30 years of community and education work, it remains true to its ‘in the round’ roots ensuring that each experience is a shared and unique one.
In the last two years, the OT has been recognised for its work with ten major industry awards, including 5 Offies (Off West End Awards), 3 UK Theatre Awards including London’s Most Welcoming Theatre, the Alfred Fagon Audience Award and the Peter Brook Empty Space Award.
